Here we have a superb Victorian brassrepousse pill/trinket box which dates to around 1900.The cherub and floral swathes figures are very well cast there’s a real generosity in their execution. This wonderful round box has a pad of black leather applied to the base; I feel this may have been a later addition as it shows only a small amount of wear. The side of the box has a garland of a classical nature held with in moulded boundaries. The cap has a voluptuous cherub framed in a classical border. The cherub is offering up a garland of flowers and fruits. The box is opened by a small lever style opener, and has a lovely well engineered hinge; both the clasp and hinge are working well and create a nice seal. The inner surface of the lid has a beautifully faded old rose pink velvet lining; the rest of the inside has a powdered gold tone. There is no makers mark or name that I am able to see. The box measures 4cm in diameter, 2.5cm in depth and weighs 34g. This beautiful little box is offered in good condition for its age, displaying some wonderful age related patina, a great addition to a collection. Please see my pictures for the details of the condition. Thanks for looking and !
