On offer is a delightful fairing that I think probably dates from the Victorian era but I can't be sure. It may have been made in Germany as that is where most of them were made. Items like this are named fairings because they were given away as prizes at fairs in the Victorian era. This one has a matt look to it and appears to be made from bisque porcelain. Please take a good look at the pictures and decide for yourself if my dating etc is correct. I am happy to answer any question you may have if it helps you at all.

The piece depicts a pig sat in what looks like a woven covered basket chair. The chair measures about 11cm high and is about 6cm at the widest part. It has been crafted to give a realistic texture to the chair and also the curtain or trim that decorates the front edge.

The very happy looking piggy is about 7.5cm from the tip of his ear to his trotters. His cute face

There are no chips, cracks or repairs to the item but it is a bit grubby and could do with a clean. There is no makers mark that I can find but there is what looks like a number "8" on the bottom in black ink.

This is a stunning vintage ornament that will make a wonderful addition to any collection.

Description is my opinion based on examination of the item shown. If you have ANY questions, please ask before you bid. I require payment within 7 days from the date you are sent your invoice (unless by prior arrangement). All non-paying bidders will be reported to Ebay unless there is a valid reason for the non-payment.

After the auction ends I will contact you regarding payment within 24 hours. Buyers from outside the UK PLEASE wait for an invoice - DO NOT guess the postage. Wrong postage payments just make extra work for me so please be patient. Wherever possible I will combine purchases to try and save costs - but postage will depend on the final weight of the parcel.
The postage and packing costs cover the cost of packing materials etc. as well as the actual Royal Mail postage charge. I DO NOT aim to make a profit on p&p costs.

Tracking is compulsory on ALL items shipped to ITALY. It is also compulsory on items valued at over £20.00 sent to other destinations outside of the UK. I have to insist on this so that a tracking number is available - part of Paypal regulations for the item to be covered for loss. A certificate of posting is obtained for all items.
