GermanPorcelain Bowl European Pheasant & Cobalt This gorgeous porcelain bowl was made by the Ilmenauer Porzellanfabrik (Ilmenau Porcelain Factory). The IMF mark on the bottom was used only between 1903 and 1930. The porcelain form has scrolling floral patterns embossed along the scalloped rim. This rim has applied gilded highlights as well as a soft yellow luster wash. There is an inner edge, just above the cobalt panels, that is also embossed with a narrow, repeating rectangular pattern. The cobalt panels are fluted and have simple gilded outlines with transfer images of delicate maple leaves in gold. The round center panel at the bottom of the bowl has a ½” wide gilded frame with raised gilding in a repeating stylized floral pattern. Within the gilded border is a charming transfer image of a European Pheasant and a smaller bird (young pheasant?) in a meadow scene with mountains in the distance. There is no sign of use and this bowl was probably a display item in a cabinet. Age : circa 1903-1930 Size : 9-5/8” diameter x 3” high Condition : Excellent estate condition. No chips, cracks or crazing. No utensil marks. Item Code: 2059 I describe items honestly and to the best of my knowledge. I will always describe any flaws buyer should be aware of.
