Victorian Inlaid Sewing/jewellery box-mother of pearl etc.needs restoring.

This item is a lovely little Victorian sewing/jewellery box in need of some (a lot) of TLC. Beautifully inlaid with various woods (Tonbridge Ware style) and mother-of pearl to the top and lock eschutcheon (although in the case of the lock area it is nearly all gone). Curved top at the front and back and padded inside the lid with that old blue lining paper on the base and a shelf for the top tray (missing I'm afraid).

The bottom has the remains of some horrible green baize. There is certainly a need for a new hinge as only one is complete and there is a clear gouge at the front right hand side. I do not have the key to the lock.

Dimensions are 10" wide by 6.5" deep (back to front) and 5" (top to bottom). Weight is 1.01 KG

Once restored this box will look beautiful (assuming you get a good job done) and if you are buying it to sell on once restored there is a lot of added value in this box. Do not forget that this is a restoration project although at a pinch you could use it as it is.
