Up for your consideration is this Stunning Shadow Box Victorian Mourning Hair Wreath circa 1870-80's.This is Almost Museum Quality. The Wreath is Floral in Nature with Gold Beads. This was made up of the Hair of the Pictured Lady and her Friends and Relatives. This Wreath was found in the Attic of the Family Home in Mystic CT.I aquired it in Skowhegan Maine from the Man who found it.He gave me the Brief History. The Lady's Husband was a Sea Captian out of Mystic CT. ,He Made the Box While Out to Sea.The Clasp is Hand Carved from some Fish Bone,I don't think it is ivory. The Glass has been replaced as far as I can tell.T is one small "flower" which is coming loose(see photo). The back has a crack(Arizona Heat & Dryness) but can be filled in.The box measures approx.24 1/2 X 20 1/2 X 4" deep. The Wreath itself is approx 19 1/2 X 16 1/2 X 3" deep.I've included many photos to show the intricate detail and Pains-Taking Hand Work that went into this.Questions welcome. This will be shipped UPS with appropriate insurance.Thank you for your time. Happy Holidays.
