Victorian silver Scottish agate pebble kilt pin brooch

This is a stunning Victorian silver Scottish agate dirk kilt pin or large brooch.
I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found. The stones are classic green bloodstone from the isle of Rum, orange Campsie Fells jasper, grey Montrose banded agate and a lovely bright facetted pale amethyst from the Sutherland mountains. The craftsman has used just the nicest piece of Campsie jasper, with not just solid orange but with waves of natural cream marbling through the stone. Very unusual and very beautiful!
The pin has no hallmarks which is not unusual for brooches from this period, but has been tested and confirmed as silver. The pin is 6.6 cm ( two and a half inches ) in length and the pin and C clasp are in good working condition and original.
