This is a Victorian silver cased fusee pocket watch with key in good working order, the case hallmarked for Chester and date letter ‘k’ in gothic script for the year 1873. The silvered dial has gold coloured Roman numerals and engraved floral decoration to the centre with a subsidiary dial counting the seconds. The case has matching hallmarks both inside the back and to the inner casing. The gilt dust cover lifts off to reveal a key wound jewelled fusee lever chain driven movement which is impressed with the number 3853. The crown of the case has maybe been replaced at some point and is impressed with the letters ‘JJ’ and hallmarked with the lion passant and date letter ‘y’. The movement winds smoothly and has been running well and keeping good time. Case measures just over 2 inches (5.25 cm) diameter. The key which came with the watch can also be used for adjusting the hands. Please see photographs for more detail.
