This rare wooden crossbow is in excellent condition. It is a Vet bring back from the early 1970's Vietnam War. A friend of mine who was in the U.S. Army in Vietnam during the war gave it to me after he returned to the States . He said it is a Montagnard Tribesman cross bow. The Montagnard, also pronounced "Mountain Yard", are Native to Vietnam living in the mountain areas. This crossbow measures apx. 49 1/2 inches by 24 1/2 inches and comes apart into 2 pieces. It will be disassembled for shipping. T are 7 bolts or arrows included that appear to be made from split bamboo or reed. The flights on some bolts are made of a cardboard material with writing on it and others are made of what appears to be paper Vietnamese currency. It came with a bow string that was made of a twisted hemp or burlap type material secured into a loop at each end with twine, and a carved trigger made from water buffalo horn, but I cannot locate these 2 items at the present time. If and when I find them in my mountain of "stuff" I will send them free of charge to the winning bidder. Also included in this auction are 2 Vietnam War era coins used in Vietnam. The aluminum color metal 1 Dong coin has an embossed rice plant on the reverse and is dated 1971. It says "1 DONG" "VIET-NAM CONG-HOA" on the obverse.
