's another interesting early radio artifact, this time an original under-glass framed license for restricted amateur radio station with call 1-U-R in Brookline, Massachusetts. Radio historians know just how early a license this one is! The radio pioneer was a fellow named Stuart M. Briggs, and his "less than 100 watt" transmitter operated with an inverted L antenna, 70 feet high, 65 feet horizontal with normal sending and receiving wave length of 200 meters. It is noted that station was within 5 nautical miles of the Charlestown Naval Radio Station. License issued Oct. 17, 1915, expiration date Oct. 16, 1916. Mr. Briggs had an interest in radio for a long while, as stuck under the glass in front is his Amateur Extra Class Radio Operator License that was issued in 1952. I have not taken frame apart to look underneath the newer license, so I assume t could be an area of discoloration t Hopefully interesting to someone! Sold as-is, please. Buyer pays actual shipping only from 02914, never a "handling"or packing fee on my auctions, buyers just pays for the stamp and chooses method of shipping. Shipping weight approx. three pounds.
