Vintage (1929) Navy Wool Side Saddle Habit. Skirt, Jacket and Waistcoat Size 8

A beautiful, vintage side saddle habit in navy wool. This superbly cut outfit was made by Roberts & Carroll of 9 Cork Street, London W1, under this label is another label which says it was made for a Miss R. Crossley and the date 30.6.1929 also the number 4659 and the initial B. The jacket measures 17" across the front from under arm to under arm. The length of the back from collar to hem is 28.5" and the sleeve length from underarm to cuff is 18". It is in good condition apart from a few small holes on the front which look as if somebody has repaired and only notice when you look closely at it. The waistcoat was made by S. Fisher of 22/23 Burlington Arcade, London W1 it has no marks or stains but in a few places there appears to be some moth damage. It measures 18" from collar to hem at the back. The skirt has the same Roberts & Carroll label with the number 4660, the letter B and the date says 30.6.28, either a year earlier or they made a mistake over the date, again it says Miss B. Crossley. The waist measures 27" and there are some repairs to the bit that goes under the leg next to the saddle, there are also some small moth holes, however unless you look carefully none of this would be noticed if you were riding in it. It is a lovely period piece, ideal for hunting as it is a good weight or for a film set wardrobe.
