You are bidding on: Large Vintage Hills Bros Coffee Glass Jar & Label c1942 In 1900 Hills Brothers began packing roast coffee in vacuum tins. This signaled the end for roasting shops and coffee mills. During World War II, the metal containers were replaced with glass. Americans began hoarding coffee and this led to coffee rationing. A citizen was limited to one pound every five weeks. This jar is for 'Two Pounds Net Weight'. The latest of the copyright dates on the label is 1942.
