VINTAGE 1946 EMERSON CATALIN RADIO MODEL 520 WORKS GOOD

VINTAGE EMERSON CATALIN RADIO MODEL 520 âe" CIRCA 1946

for your consideration is a near mint condition Emerson catalin model 520 radio.

A Raymond Loewy design which I believe was the last catalin radio produced by Emerson .

The radio has rich dark brown with orange marble swirling. The radio is clean and has a

glass-like appearance. The tubes have been checked and bad or weak tubes replaced. It is in

good working condition.

The receiver is a typical All-American five (AA5) design covering the broadcast band from

kc and with a tube lineup of 12SA7 mixer, 12SK7 IF amp, 12SQ7 det/AGC/1 st AF,

50L6 power amp and a 35Z5 rectifier. NOTE: original price in 1946 was $37.85

The radio features a moulded back panel as shown. All of the 520 back panels I have seen

show stress cracks around the screw holes as a result of the stress induced by shrinkage of the

catalin casing over time which makes the panel bow out. This one unfortunately is no exception..
