Vintage 1950's Electro Voice 638 dynamic High Z microphone old w 4 ft cable

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome .

You are looking at a general purpose microphone made by Electro Voice during the 1950's with outstanding sound quality. It comes with a short 4 foot cable as well.

This mics grill has a classic design that resembled the air intake for many of the early American and Soviet fighter planes of that era. You'll notice that the microphone manufacturers were copying the styles of the American automobile, aircraft and space agencies for many years.

Made right here in the U.S.A 60 + years ago this chunky, little mic is covered from head to toe in polished chrome. Thoroughly tested and cleaned this 638 has 100% signal output and sounds like a dream. Though originally designed as a rugged general purpose mic utilizing a High Z element is actually ideal for use as a harp mic as it's light weight, easy to cup and has a great, raspy sound. I've sold quite a few of these and I get nothing but the best feedback.

T he 638 microphone did not come with the ON / OFF switch like the E.V 641 that was produced later in the 1960's. If you want the same sound but have the ON / OFF option I would highly recommend an E.V 641 instead.

The mic has a few very lite scratches but overall in superb condition. The pistol grip looks very nice as well. Let the detailed pics be your guide please.
