This very rare poster was printed in '89 and has been in it's metal frame and under plexiglass since it was purchased. It is a poster of a great and fascinating painting with an even more fascinating story - Mark Tansey painted this satirical 6 foot by 10 foot piece in 1981, depicting art critics anxiously awaiting the reaction of a cow, who is shown a painting of cows. An internet search will supply plenty of commentary and analysis of the original painting as well as the scandal and law suit that followed! It hung in the Metropolitan Museum Of Art for years, then was illegally sold to collector in England and taken out of the country. The Museum's lawsuit against the art dealers who were involved was said to "shake the art world" and made the news again as recently as 2012. Please look closely at the last 7 photos - I removed it from its frame in order to show more clearly, some minor white (faded?) spots that occur around the edges and in some places extend into the picture by about an inch. They are not tears or perforations, just white spots; perhaps light, or from the pressure of the plexiglas against the poster around the edges. They are only noticeable from close up.
