Vintage Asian Japanese Oriental Silk Screen Scroll

Beautiful Vintage Asian Oriental Japanese Silk Screen Scroll

Pine Branch and Light Blue Birds

Up for auction is a vintage silk screen scroll from Japan - (t is a small tag on the top that says Made in Japan - that my Godmother collected in her many Oriental travels - mostly in the 1950s and 1960s. She had many silk screens and jeweled screens when she moved to a retirement home, as well as hundreds of other Oriental decorative items.

This silk screen looks old, but is still beautiful and in excellent shape. I think it had been rolled up for many, many years. The back ground surrounding the actual silk screen is made of a champagne or gold colored textured silk - almost Brocade like. The entire scroll measures 58 inches long by 20 inches wide. The silk screen part - the painting part - measures 42 inches long by 15 inches wide.

The delicate light blue birds - so beautiful - sit atop a branch of something similar to pine trees with needles. The painting is signed with Japanese symbols and signature at the bottom left.

T are wooden dowels at the top and bottom of the scroll with a silk ribbon at the top so it can afix to a nail for hanging. This would be beautiful framed as well - without the dowels.

Please ask questions - I will try to show many photos. This is really a pretty vintage
