My Monday listing is for a very cute butterfly applique quilt that is in stacker condition--no wear to any of the appliques just a little bit of yellowing to the 1930's fabric and some wear to the binding.

Its a 1930's quilt, traditionally well made, all hand pieced, hand appliqued with black thread and hand quilted at 9spi. It has a very cute layout with 4 butterflies circling a purple flower in each 16" square block. All the butterflies are made form vintage cotton prints and feedsacks. Some are a little faded, others are still fairly bright.

The quilt sashings and border is the same purple fabric that is used for the flowers. Each flower has a golden yellow center accented with French knots.

The hand quilting is done in diagnol lines through the blocks and a cable pattern in the sashing. The purple border is hand quilted in a double wave pattern. All tiny stitches, 9spi.

Backing is white cotton and the batting is thin cotton. Suprisingly the quilt still has decent texture, one of the benefits of good hand quilting.

The real issues with this quilt is with the thin hand closed white binding which is worn all around. No wear to the border so the binding could be replaced. No holes. A few small stains on the backing.
