This is a vintage/antique Calemeter bank that dates back to the 1920s. It is leather or leather-like and brass and shaped like a book. It advertises "The Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Co. Day & Cornish General Agents, 744 Broad Street, Newark, N.J." in gold print on the back. There is a grommet type hole above it with "To Set-Turn" embossed underneath. By placing the key into the hole and turning, you can change the date. There are four brass corner protectors on the outside edges of the bank and what looks like an image of a Mercury Dime at the top and CaleMeter, A Coin A Day Keeps It Up To Date on the front. A window is underneath with the date on top and the month underneath. There is a slot on the top for dimes, "A Dime A Day Keeps It Up To Date" is underneath. On the side of the bank is a slot for other coins and a hole to roll up paper money and insert. The bottom has the key slot to open the bottom panel of the bank. The metal key opens the bottom of the bank and changes the date. The black plastic stand holds the bank upright and has Zell Products, Corp., New York, Made In U.S.A. on the bottom. The cardboard box has a black top and plain cardboard sides and bottom.
