This vintage carved wood bookend is in the shape of a meditating Buddha. I believe from the material and style that this is Japanese, though that is only a guess. This piece is only one of a pair, but the quality of the carving and finish makes it a great stand-alone piece of sculpture. It stands 7 1/4 “ high, and is 6 “ wide and 4 3/4 “ deep at the base. The hair is carved and painted black, as is the base. The robes are painted a dark reddish brown, and the hands, chest and face are painted a dark gold. T is no mark on the piece except the number 10 scrawled on the base. The piece is in very good condition, without chips or cracks and only a bit a wear to the paint on the base. I would put the date of this at the mid-60’s. I normally use USPS to ship items. Insurance is optional to the buyer but highly recommended. I package all items with care but I am not responsible for post office loss or damage in the event buyer declines insurance.
