Up for bid is a vintage corn sheller. This corn sheller is a NEVER FAIL. it was made by the Root-Heath Manufacturing Co. of Plymouth, Ohio. The writing on the wheel with the shelling teeth is: MADE BY THE ROOT-HEATH M'F'G CO. PLYMOUTH O. U.S.A. 4. In embossed writing, the words NEVER FAIL are wrote w the ears of corn are inserted. This corn sheller is complete and in working order, however it appears that the nubber was optional on this model and w the nubber bolts on, is in empty bolt hole. The coil spring for tensioning is in excellent condition and the wing nut that adjusts the tension turns freely. The crank is serpentine shaped. The shelling teeth wheel is approximately 8 1/2" in diameter. From w the ear of corn is inserted to the bottom of the mounting bracket is approximately 11". Measuring in a straight line, from the center of the bolt for the crank's handle to the center of the bolt w the crank mounts is approximately 8" The wooden handle on the end of the crank is approximately 3 5/8". For safety in shipping, the crank will be removed when shipped, but comes off with one nut that I can turn with my fingers. Some owner, previous to me, repainted this corn sheller and most of the letters have been highlighted with chrome paint.
