Vintage Framed Oil Painting SITTING BULL BY L SHIPSHEE

You are bidding on:

Framed Oil Painting of SITTING BULL by L Shipshee.

Oil on Canvas Painting is very old with what appears to be a mahogony frame. Painting came from an estate with several other antique Native American artifacts and vintage photographs. Overall I would say the painting is in fair to poor condition. Though it still looks very good from a few feet and the canvas has no rips or tears or scarring to speak of, on close examination the paint is cracking (though not peeling or falling off) in many areas and presents fine hair lines.

A great piece for any collector of Native American Art. I have no reason to beleive this painting is not authentic however I can make no representations as to its origin or authenticity and make no guarantees to that effect. As mentioned earlier it did come from an estate having many authentic original Native American artifacts & photos. Also found with the painting was a newspaper article from the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, dated Sunday, June 28, 1971. The article: THE INDIAN SIDE OF THE STORY WHO REALLY WORE THE WHITE HATS AT CUSTER'S LAST STAND? by Del Schrader Staff Writer. For a portion of the article Del interviews Historian David Miller an authority on Custer & the Little Big Horn Battle. The winning bidder will also receive the article pictured.
