Vintage Inaba Japanese Cloisonne Round Lidded Box (#54-9)

This piece is marked with the Inaba hallmark on the black enamel bottom. Inaba was started in Kyoto in 1887 by Inaba Isshin, a former samurai who began working with enamels in 1875. It operated until 1990. Inaba was considered one of the better known cloisonné studios in Japan. We were unable to date this piece of Inaba cloisonné but it appears to have considerable age. White areas are glare from the lights.
