Vintage Italian Line Cruise Ship Michelangelo Raffaello

This auction is for an 8 3/4 lead model of the Italian cruise lines, " Michelangelo" and " Raffaello". They were sister ships both built in 1965. Each have interesting stories in their own right. They ended up being purchased from the Italians by the Shah of Persia (Iran) w both finally ended their services. . The Michelangelo in 1991 and the Raffaello in 1983. These were previously jewels of the Italian Line. T are a couple of flecks of paint missing on this model but it is in great condition considering age. Both stacks have the Italian colors around them as paper labels and the three swimming pools made them distinct for the time. On the underside is written both names Raffaello and Michelangelo, Made In Italy, Modelcraft and Mercury in a sun pattern also 'Italia" and T/N. The tonnage of these ships was 45,933 each, which in comparisson to newer liners is very light. Great collectible. Excellent Father's Day Gift.
