These two figures come from the estate of a War World II veteran and were collected during his stationing in occupied Japan. I do not know the exact age of these pieces. Each figure is carved from a single piece of genuine ivory tusk. The figures are 3" inches high. You are bidding on both figures together.

This is a FINELY CARVED depiction of an old couple. The man holds a turtle in one hand and a rake in the other. The woman holds a broom. T is fine detail with delicate scrimshaw enhancements and good facial features.

It is artist SIGNED on the bottom of the male figure with Japanese characters.

Condition: The man is in excellent condition but the woman's foot is broken (see photo).
