Vintage Mercury Glass Footed Compote w/ Cast Iron Base

You are bidding on a very unusual vintage mercury glass footed compote with a wooden stem and cast iron base. I have no idea exactly how old it is, but I would guess it's from the 30's or 40's. The mercury glass has abstract marks of orange, white and light and dark amythest within the silvering. I am guessing bits of colored glass were put in the mercury during the blowing process. It was difficult to get a good picture of the interior of the bowl due to reflections, but the mercury glass is completely intact, with no signs of flaking or damage. The bowl measures 6 inches in diameter by approximately 2 3/4 inches high. The green part of the stem is wood, the off white part is cast iron, as is the fancy green base. T is some crackling and minor paint loss on the off white part and a few flecks of paint off the green wood stem. Otherwise, this uncommon piece of mercury glass is in excellent condition. If you like the unusual, this would make a wonderful addition to your collection. Payment to be made within 10 days from the end of the auction. Paypal or money order only please.
