Gorgeous Vintage Mexican Sterling Silver Taxco Nouveau EMMA MELENDEZ Amethyst & Garnet Panel Bracelet, circa 1950's. EMMA, the "niece of Maestro Rafael Melendez", opened her first taller in 1953. She was known to create "Beautiful Handwrought Silver Designs" along with selling jewelry in her shop created by other designers. Some designers that produced for Emma were Jose' Luis Flores, Miguel Garcia Martinez, Francisco Rivera, & Victor Jaimez. This bracelet has the hallmark by "Emma" which she signed in block letters along with an inventory number. The work that Emma produced was noted to be "well-designed and technically flawless". A " Highly Collectible " piece showcasing a fancy "ORNATE" swirl design of sterling silver with oxidation within the swirls, with its main focal point being the Huge Faceted Purple Amethyst oval gemstone, 4+ carat, & the F aceted Red Garnet round gemstone , 2+ carat. The garnet could be synthetic, not sure. Both gemstones are tightly set in Heavy-Duty 4-prong settings [settings recently checked by jeweler to be tight and secure]. The stones sit up 1/4" high above the front bracelet base ~ Breathtaking!! The S-shaped links with soldered O'Rings and original safety chain provide a strong & secure wearable piece.
