VINTAGE MINERS SAFETY LAMP MAKERSECCLES – FULLY WORKING Here for sale is a fully operational working ECCLES Deputies Safety Lamp model GR6 . This information is embossed on a beautiful brass plate on the front of the Lamp. Also embossed on the Brass plate is “The Protector Lamp & Lighting Co Ltd. Type GR6 Ministry of Power Safety Lamps Approval No. B2/233” (please see photos) The lamp is stamped on the brass outside rim with the number 75/ . (please see photos) It is also stamped on the inside of the removable base, as it should be, with the consecutive number 76/ (please see photos). The patent number 1048/36 is stamped on both the inside and outside rim (please see photos) The glass is etched with “PLCL MP British MFP” and with the numbers fifty eight and a quarter and 59 and a half etched either side of the writing. The lamp has 5 upright bars and is a combination of brass and coated steel , it stands about 10” inches high and still boasts its original hanging hook. (please see photos) It unusually still has its slide igniter which helps to create the spark which, when not in use, hangs from its original brass chain which is attached to one of the upright bars. ( please see photos) Once the lamp is filled with fuel you only need to adjust the wick (done by rotating the cross shaped rotational control on the bottom of the lamp
