Princess Marie Louise of Hanover and Cumberland ( German : Marie Louise Victoria Caroline Amalie Alexandra Augusta Friederike Prinzessin von Hannover und Cumberland ), Princess of Great Britain and Ireland , Duchess of Brunswick-Lüneburg (born 11 October 1879 in Gmunden , Upper Austria , Austria-Hungary ; died 31 January 1948 at Schloss Salem in Salem , Baden-Württemberg , Germany ). Marie Louise was the eldest daughter of Ernest Augustus, Crown Prince of Hanover (1845-1923) and Princess Thyra of Denmark (1853-1933), the youngest daughter of Christian IX of Denmark (1818-1906) and Louise of Hesse-Kassel (1817-1898). Marie Louise was a great-great-granddaughter of George III of the United Kingdom (1738-1820) and Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1744-1818).

Marie Louise married on 10 July 1900 in Gmunden, Austria-Hungary to her third cousin twice removed Prince Maximilian of Baden (1867-1929), son of Prince Wilhelm of Baden and his wife Princess Maria Maximilianovna of Leuchtenberg , thus making him a first cousin twice removed of Napoleon III of France .
