Oh what personality ! Bellowing away "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" replete with stately monacle, oversized hook nose, slanted mouth ! Finely handpainted porcelain in excellent condition ... attributed to 1920s Schafer & Vater style (no bottom mark). The colorful longstanding German porcelain factory Schafer & Vater created a few bald, tuxedoed funny crooning novelty figural "Smoke hole" ashtrays and Japan reproduced them. Please see my current auctions for his other three singing fellows forming this unique Art Deco Quartet. Australia's ABC Collectors' ShowNTell TV episode Oct 20, 2006 featured a similar set. Mr. "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" is an efficient Ashtray -- he has two "smoke holes" in his ears and a protruding, contoured bottom lip which perfectly supports a cigarette or cigar. Handsomely crafted painted features. A darker area on the lip is possibly from normal use; however it does not detract from the beauty of this rare piece. A music staff and the classic song "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" are enscribed below his bow tie. If used as a Match Holder/Striker -- the tuxedo suit is a rougher surface and painted with black chalky paint on which to strike a match. SIZE: 2-1/4" wide by 1-3/4" deep by 5-1/2" high TERMS OF SALE: Thank you for visiting my auction; I am a niche Ebay Buyer and a new Seller -- collecting
