Hello. You are looking at a very nice Shure Brothers 55 C model (1st generation) microphone oftenly referred to as the "Fatboy" made famous by Elvis Presley himself. Classic, clean deco lines give this mic the attention it deserves. This mic made it's debut in 1939 and had a run of 11 years until the second generation of smaller 55's came along in 1951. A cast zinc body with a satin chrome finish. A nice early 55 is getting hard to find. This particular mic is a very nice example. Far above average for sure but it should be noted that there is some tiny road rash on the top upper right hand side of the 55 as seen in pic # 9. Or maybe you can't see it because its very hard to see even up close. It' should be stated so that there is no buyers remorse once the mic arrives. I like to get the all the negatives out in the open to potential buyers. This old 55 has been tested and the signal is in great working order. No distortion or other unwanted feedback. The chrome shines very nicely with an impressive luster. There is just one slight bend in the front lower grill as seen in pic # 7. The blue silk screen is as nice as one could ask for with a 70 year old Shure 55 and has a nice dark even color. As seen in pic # 2 the foam pads are still in very nice condition with minimal wear.
