Vintage Sub marine RedLight - Seawolf or SSN683 I purchased this lightfrom a former Mare Island worker. He told me the light came from the Seawolf and he also mentioned SSN683. I looked this up and found from Wikipedia that the Seawolf-class is a class of nuclear-powered fast attack submarines ( SSN ) in service with the United States Navy . Design work began in 1983. At one time, an intended fleet of 29 submarines was to be built over a ten-year period, later reduced to twelve submarines. The end of the Cold War and budget constraints led to the cancellation in 1995 of any further additions to the fleet, leaving the Seawolf class limited to just three boats. (SSN-683) , came from the USS Parche a Sturgeon-class submarine , that was the second ship of the United States Navy to be named for the parche , a small, coral reef butterfly fish . Parche is the "most highly decorated vessel in U.S. history," [launched on 13 January 1973. I am not sure of the exact origin. I found a photo online of the inside of a Sturgeon Class submarine and found what looks like to be a very similar light. I circled the light in the photo. The red light portion is plexi-glass. The body is green painted metal. The light works. The socket is a standard medium base. So an appliance bulb size would be good. I think an LED bulb would be great because you
