This is a beautiful example of a vintage Western movie prop double holster and gunbelt with a fantastic buckle and extensive decoration. The leather-work on the belt is a California poppy motif, commonly used by the great saddlemakers to the 'singing cowboys' of the era. Research leads us to believe that this was a stunt-man's belt fashioned after the Sterling silver Bohlin holsters - (a stunt-man being thrown off his horse or getting "shot" off the stage coach would not be wearing the real thing). There is not a maker's mark on the piece although there is a possible brand or mark in the decoration of the left holster (see photo). The metalwork features buckles, conchos and tacks patterned after the 'real thing'- this gunbelt/holster set was not made for actual use with real guns. The attention to detail with which this set was made is incredible! Each holster is decorated with a picture of a California style parade saddle, complete with tapaderos - again a reference or homage to Bohlin designs. The entire piece is stamped with floral designs - as mentioned the California Poppy features prominently. There are 3 patterned conchos (one is missing) tied on with decorative strings.
