This is a very nice vintage badge from the Plant Police for Westinghouse in Irwin Pennsylvania. The badge is 2-3/4" high by 1-3/4" wide and is in very nice condition with good honest wear. On the back it has a one piece bar pin with a patent number and somew along the line the pin broke and was replaced with a shop made one. It is not hallmarked. This would be a great badge for your collection and following is some info on the company:

The Westinghouse Electric Corporation was founded by George Westinghouse in 1886. The company remained in business under that name (or variations of it) until it's sale to CBS in 1997. In 1948, Westinghouse bought a 20 acre site in Irwin PA, formerly occuppied by the Jersey Cereal Company. Westinghouse located its Transportation and Generation Division mica operations t from its former location in East Pittsburgh PA and production started in 1950. By 1953, two new buildings were constructed and the plant was 150,000 square feet. With the passing of Westinghouse's manufacturing superiority, plants were closed and the Irwin Works was one of them. This location was sold and is now known as the Banco Business Park.
