Vintage Wooden Cigarette box with inlaid veneer

Last night was another marvelous "Friday Night Auction" in good old downstate Delaware. I believe Friday is my favorite day of the week. I look forward to this auction all week. Last night I broadened my scope. I bought something else, beside jewelry. Check my other listings (later this week-end) and see how I did !!.

I hadn't looked at this cigarette box, until the auctioneer held it up for inspection. You could see everyone leaning forward in his seat. As soon as the auctioneer opened it, I was hooked. I had to have it. I took a chance, put my paddle up for the first bid. Needless to say, I put it up for the final bid. It was covered with a bit of dust and grime from fingerprints. It came from a now defunct Antique Shop, on the peninsula. (Virginia part). It cleaned up beautifully with a minimum of effort. I can't tell you anything about the wood. Being a veneer, it is a combination of dark and light tones. The wood is a little dry. Not unusual coming from a building, probably without humidity control. None of the veneer is loose, or missing. It is in very good condition. Just a minimal amount of surface wear, which usually comes with age. T are round compartments for 40 cigarettes. The overall size is 6 ½" X 4 ½" X 3". It sits flat. T are no feet. If I've missed any pertinent information, please send me an email.

I ship only on Monday and Thursday.
