I will try to state all i know about this item. I bought this about 8 years ago at a flew market in Denver. From looking at it, i realized it was a german visor hat, other then that, did not know too much about it. I took it to a local antique dealer in town. He tells me it is a German visor hat, as for what group may have used it, he does not know. But he did show me a few very interesting things about this hat. He tested itusing a small little " black " light, he said if it does not " glow " that it was to be made before 1945 with natural use. And then he took a samll thread off of the hat and burnt it, he looked the way it burnt, It is hard for me to try to explain this step, but he was looking for the way the end would end up burning. He called this the " burn " test. He said both tests passed which means this is an old hat made before 1945. I have treid to take pictures to show you on the hat, if you turn it a certain way, you can see w once t was an eagle and a skull, it is t, you can see it with the naked eye, but very hard to pick it up on camera. Then on the inside of the hat, t are a few dark spots, i will not spectulate what they are, but they are stained into the material.
