Vtg Sterling Silver SIGNED SPRATLING Taxco Mexico 1940s Earrings

VINTAGE TAXCO MEXICO SIGNED 1940s WILLIAM SPRATLING EARRINGS IN COLLECTIBLE MEXICO FOLK ART OLINALA BOX
As a collector of vintage Mexico sterling jewelry myself, I admit that I truly get a little weak-kneed when I get a chance to hold a signed William Spratling piece. Spratling, of course, was the designer and entrepreneur responsible for the Taxco Mexico silver renaissance in the 1930s and 1940s. I own a pair of these i conic 1940s Spratling sterling earrings, so I can sell this other pair that I was lucky enough to come across. These handcrafted Spratling treasures are correctly marked with "Spratling Silver" on one earring and the "WS" Spratling logo and "Spratling Made in Mexico" mark on the other; these marks were used by Spratling in 1940-1946. It's hard to photograph the marks with the earring mechanism in the way, so I have included more than one photo. Note that the marks have the hand lettering that Spratling used at this time. You can, of course, have the screw backs easily replaced with posts, but these are very comfortable as is. These earrings are about 3/4" in diameter and about 3/8" deep from front to back. These are in very good vintage condition with some tarnish, soft patina from decades of accumulated surface scratches, and some shine.
