I have for auction a WW 2 R.A.F. Navigation Computer complete in it's original box and including paperwork that identifies the original owner and squadron. The computer itself is undated as far as I can see but the box is dated 1943 and is clearly identifyable as to it's original contents. It is as can be expected a little delapidated. Except for some surface rust on the attachment strap buckles the computer itself is in excellent used condition with no chips to the bakerlite casing as is the case with some I have seen for sale on e-bay. It appears to be complete in every detail and the chart scrolls round as it should. It even has the original government stamped chinagraph pencil. Now for the really interesting part. Included with the computer is some paperwork which carries the orignal owners name and other details which would appear to show him starting off in the war as an Observer Radio and becoming a P.O. The poem included is entitled an Ode to 409 Squadron. A bit of research would indicate that 409 Squadron was a R.C.A.F. night fighter unit flying Beaufighters which ties up with the words of the poem. The paperwork on it's own is very interesting and there is probably enough information to allow the history of it's owner to be traced.
