MUSEUM GRADE REPRODUCTION BASED ON ACTUAL HITORICAL WEAPONS For seven hundred years, the Samurai dominated Japanese society. An elite class of warriors, the Samurai were dedicated to serving their master, the Shogun, and served him through a complex code of behavior and ritual. Perhaps the greatest of all Shoguns was Tokugawa Ieyasu, who established rule in 1603 and whose family ruled Japan for 200 years. It is Tokugawa's family crest, the hollyhock, that is represented on the scabbards of these museum grade recreations of traditional samurai swords, accompanying an array of dragons, representing the highest power and authority in Japan . The long sword, the Katana, was a fighting sword with a hilt 8 to 10 inches long and was gripped with one or two hands. The wakizashi, the shorter sword, was a complementary weapon, used for fighting indoors. Both swords frequently included two fittings essential to the Samurai. The kozuka was a throwing knife, and the kogai was a hairpin that could be used in deadly ways. Both were sheathed on the side of the scabbards. Elegant yet fierce, deadly yet beautiful, the Katana Swords reflect the essence of the Samurai. This set can be displayed proudly in home, office or dojo. Crafted from the finest materials, the blades are hand rolled, razor sharp stainless steal polished to a mirror
