Waverly Novels 1877, The Handy Volume set. London : Bradbury, Agnew and Co printers Whitefriars. These novels are full leather bound with marbled front and rear papers and all leaves are marbled on the edges. These books are a small version hence the title. They measure approximately 85mm x 121mm. Some are thicker than others depending on the length of the story. There are 25 volumes. Volume one has 2 inscriptions “E. S. Tattershall 1878 Eton College” and “G. S. Pitts Tucker 1893 Charterhouse”. Volume 22 has an additional inscription which states that Tattershall gave the set to Pitts Tucker. Volumes 1, 5, 7, 15, 21 have varying degrees of wear to the spine, see picture. Volume 25 has faded on the front cover. All the volumes have slight wear to the spines and covers. Volume 1 has 2 pages with tiny holes. Volume 4 has 4 concurrent pages slightly damaged at the bottom on the corner. These volumes make a very nice display set on the sideboard.
