A Wedgwood turquoise ‘Florentine’ bone china Teacup, Saucer and Plate. This is the second trio of cup, saucer and plate. Others will be coming up for auction presently and each will be photographed and evaluated seperately, so what you see here is the set you get. First introduced in the 1930’s, these beautifully glazed bone china pieces with the eye-catching Florentine design are part of a tea set, being auctioned in separate lots. The teacup stands at 2 ⅝” high, and measures 3¼” across the rim; the saucer measures 5¾” in diameter and the plate is 6” across. They have been used, but clearly not excessively, probably spending the majority of their life in a sideboard in someone’s front room and only brought out on special occasions! As a result, they are in exceptionally good condition for their age. I am unable to make any sense of the Wedgwood dating system, so will leave it to the experts to sort out from the photo’s! Each piece has a good ‘ring’ to it; no crazing of the glaze; no chips or cracks; no glued handles or other signs of repair. If I was going to be incredibly fussy…we Virgo’s are renowned for seeking perfection…then I would have to say that the surface of the plate has a small number of very faint marks which are only discernable when held to the light at an angle.
