Wiking" SS-Panzer Knights Cross winner SP - Darges

4x7 b/w postwar photo signed by WW2 German SS Panzer Knights Cross winner Fritz Darges .

Darges was Commander of the 5th. SS-Panzer Rgt. in SS-Panzer Div "Wiking". He won his RK n Aprl of 1945 during the defense of Berlin. Darges was an adjutant to Hitler until the infamous "fly" incident. Annoyed by a fly buzzing around him, Hitler ordered Darges to dispatch the fly. Totally misjudging the Fürher's mood, Darges suggested that perhaps Luftwaffe Adjutant v. Bülow should deal with the "airborne" pest. Darges was dismissed on the spot and sent to the eastern front.

Great candid photo of Darges in conversation with another officer in front of a half-track. Signed boldly in black marker. All signatures guaranteed original.
