William L. Gilbert "Blackbird" mantle clock, circa 1900. Clock is made of black wood and maroon faux marble. Top measures 14 1/2" wide X 6 1/2" deep. Bottom of clock base measures 16" wide X 7" deep. Clock face is 5 3/4" in diameter. The back opening is a sliding metal circle approximately 4 3/4" in diameter. T are four pillars on the front of the clock on either side of the dial. Part of the paper identificatin is still on the bottom of the clock naming it as a "Blackbird" William L. Gilbert clock. The key is missing. Without a key, I do not know if the clocks runs or not so it is being sold "as is". The inside workings appear to be all t, including the pendulum. Has a nice gong sound. See pictures of chipping around the edge of the wood in places. I am not a collector so these are my own untrained observations of the clock. It has been in our family's possession for over 77 years.
