This is a Joe Holbert handmade William Scagel style camp hatchet. The axe head and neck are made of hand forged steel.Handle is stacked leather with an antler stag pommel in the traditional Scagel style (see photos).The hatchet measures 10 inches long. Axe head is 3.5 inches length wise and 2 & 5/8 inches along the cutting edge.Hatchet comes complete with nicely made leather belt sheath that is handmade by Jim Layton of Portsmouth, Ohio.This is a very well made hatchet. Nicely balanced and light weight enough to carry in your backpack or on your belt. This overall size would also make it a great game skinning and quartering tool.Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have.
