A wonderful antique black glass-mounted micromosaic; beautifully finely made to depict Pliny's Doves / the Capitoline Doves, in a lovely tubular gilt mount with engraved scroll-type embellishments, for wear as a pin.

High quality, distinctive and beautiful - immensely collectable!

CONDITION : All original and very good. Cracks to black glass - appears to have been repaired/stabilised, so in no danger and not readily noticeable. Tiniest nick to the plinth base, scratching to glass surface.

DATE/MARKS : Around 1870. Not marked.

DIMENSIONS : 60 x 52 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.

WEIGHT : Approx. 37.5 grams.
