Wonderful early 19th~century circa 1840~1860 solid walnut document desk box with big hand-cut dovetails and all original with the original brass and iron hardware including lock and handle and hinges and even comes with the original key that locks and opens the box. The box measures 11-3/4" wide x 6-1/4" high x 6-5/8" deep in excellent condition exhibiting a wonderfuL patina. T is some original ink writing (large letters) on the bottom that is very hard to make out...."G.I.~38 U.S.V."???? (see images) but is guaranteed to be original to box. Document desk box is 100% fully guaranteed to be just as advertised and was just recently aquired from a central Indiana estate. It is possible it may have been a soldier's or officers desk box during the Civil War. A True piece of Americana. NO RESERVE!!
