Up for bid is an original World War Two Finnish Puukko knife. The knife measures 9.5 inches long and a total of 11.25 inches when housed in the scabbard. The scabbard was almost certainly made from the aluminum skin of a downed Russian aircraft. The knife and scabbard were custom made by the soldier and the scabbard is dated 1942. This Puukko was almost certainly used against the Russians during the winter war. If you are not familiar with the Finnish-Russian winter campaign it is fascinating reading how the highly outnumbered fins held off the powerful Russian army in the early days of world war two.
