WW1 TRENCH ART TANK PETROL LIGHTER & PAPERWEIGHT

This is a superb example of a First World War Trench Art Tank petrol table lighter which could also possibly have been a paper weight. The tank stands on a wooden base (old red baise underneath) which has been stained and on top of this is a brass plate which has been decorated in a chased, patterned design. Each corner has a small steel ball (one corner is missing the steel ball),

The tank swivels on the brass base plate.

The Tank is a representation of the British Mark V First World War tank and is made of brass with a rhomboid shape and castellated edges to represent the caterpillar tracks. The tank sides, top, back and front are all decorated in a similar pattern to the base plate. The side guns are static, the top gun rotates, The top gun also lifts off to reveal and simple wheel and flint mechanism, The flintwheel and tube can be removed to allow for refilling.

I have not cleaned the tank or base at all and will leave this decision to the new owner.
