WW2 British Army No. 7 Mk 2 Director Artillery Gun Sight Optic, getting rare.

These days most No.7 sights are very used and worn or have been stripped of paint, polished up, put on a modern tripod and sold at up to 4 figure sums to the "antique" market.

This one is in very good 1940 condition, it actually shows very little signs of use.

Optically it has a bright 4x image with the original complex crosshair graticule still in place. All the glass in the lenses and bubble levels is undamaged and intact.

Mechanically all the vernier adjustments are perfect, very smooth and precise in both traverse and elevation ( minus 15 degrees to plus 65 degrees). The compass is functional. The rubber eyepiece is still pliable not brittle and cracked as they usually are.
