WW2 British Medals

WW2 Medal Group

A set of 4 medals awarded to W Johnson who is believed to have served in an East Kent Regiment.

The Regimental number indicates enlistment with the East Kent Regiment. The return address on the reverse of the box suggests Royal Artillery. He may have served in one of the following East Kent battalions:
8th Battalion - became 9th Medium Battery, Royal Artillery
11th Battalion - became 89th Light Anti Aircraft Battery, Royal Artillery
Kent Yeomanry - the 2nd Regiment served in North West Europe as 143rd [ Kent Yeomanry ] Field Regiment, Royal Artillery

The side cap of the young soldier in the picture has coloured piping - though he appears to be wearing khaki. It is possible he served with a Yeomanry Regiment - i.e. East Kent Yeomanry.

Many thanks to bugeye40 for his invaluable information and research..it is very much appreciated.
