You are bidding on a nice WW2 British/Canadian Mk II Steel combat helmet. This one has a nice liner affixed to it, dating to 1945, and the model chinstrap brought in with the later Mk 3 and Mk 4 helmets, but much more functional than the bungee style early war ones. A solid brown paint scheme with a sand texture is on top and below the rim but the under layer on the inside of the pot appears to originally have been a light od green, and has two letters (initials perhaps) written on the pot. The net appears to be made of the hemp netting sacks the British issued as "boot bags" to carry boot when drying and/or ayhting else, and is period as well. An interesting piece I kept for years simply for the look and used to be part of a featured display of the Normandy campaign, or for double duty as a helmet for the Korean war, but it has since sat in the closet since I took that display down. and is in good overall condition, but it need a better home. Take advantage of my tightening down on my collection. Check out my other auctions of helmets and militaria, combine wins and combine shipping.
