The BSM has a pin back device while the ribbon has double clutch back posts. The case is in about near mint condition as is the medal, ribbon and lapel button. The Bronze Star Medal was issued for valor in combat as well as for meritorious service in support of a combat action. All GI and Paratrooper recipients of the Combat Infantry Badge in WWII automatically qualified for the Bronze Star Medal by Act of Congress. The hinge works well on the case. The colors on the medal and ribbon are vibrant and perfectly preserved. The medal is not named or numbered. The Bronze Star Medal is appropriate for officers and enlisted personnel for American men and women of all branches of service.
